Drawing from her specialised training and experience, Dr Mitchell has developed expertise in various areas of psychology. She has worked extensively with adult and older adults in the NHS Mental Health Services and for NHS Health Psychology Services, including memory clinics, neuropsychology, and Neurorehabilitation. Her diverse caseload has equipped her with the ability to address a wide range of presentations, such as depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, psychological trauma, interpersonal and relationship difficulties, adjusting to long-term health conditions, carer support, chronic pain, and cognitive impairment/dementia.

Passionate about the interconnectedness of physical and mental health, Dr Mitchell enjoys exploring the dynamic relationship between these two domains. She believes in tailoring her approach to meet the unique needs of each patient, drawing from different therapeutic models. Her preferred modalities include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT).

She thrives on connecting with diverse individuals and fostering collaborative relationships within the therapeutic setting. On what is most fulfilling to her as a psychologist, she says, ‘It is a privilege to help people manage their difficulties, reduce distress, learn new strategies, and build resilience in a way that allows them to live a meaningful life that is in line with their values.’

When she is not immersed in her work, Dr Mitchell enjoys time with her family and friends and is a busy mother to two young children. Driven by her love for the outdoors, she actively engages in activities like running and exploring national trusts and areas of natural beauty. Her wanderlust takes her to far-off destinations, where she immerses herself in new countries and cultures, having already embarked on adventures in Vietnam, Dubai, Australia, and South Africa. To relax, she practices yoga and indulges in reading and cooking.

Dr Mitchell exemplifies the qualities of a skilled and empathetic clinical psychologist. Through her expertise, warmth, and genuine commitment to her patient’s well-being, she continues to make a positive impact on the lives of those she treats.
