ADHD Pathway: Comprehensive ADHD Assessments in London
Our expert psychologists provide high-quality ADHD assessments. With a commitment to meeting NICE guidelines, we support individuals through every step of their ADHD journey, from initial concerns to post-diagnosis care.
ADHD Assessment Process
Step 1: Take the Free Pre-Assessment Questionnaire
If you are unsure whether to pursue an ADHD assessment, start with our free pre-assessment questionnaire. This tool, based on the Adult Self-Report Scale (ASRS), provides an indication of the likelihood of ADHD.
Your scores will be sent to our lead Clinical Psychologist - Dr Rosanna Michalczuk, who will review them and contact you regarding the next most suitable steps. She will get back to you within 48 hours. If your score does not exceed the threshold or if childhood ADHD symptoms are not evident, an ADHD assessment may not be appropriate.
Step 2: Comprehensive ADHD Assessment
Once the pre-assessment is complete, we schedule a detailed assessment lasting 2–3 hours.
Our gold standard ADHD assessment closely follows the UK recommended NICE guidelines. Our assessments are completed by a Senior Clinical Psychologist with specialist ADHD training. They are comprehensive and include psychometric questionnaires. During this appointment, we will go through the following areas of information:
-
Why you are pursuing an assessment for ADHD
-
Developmental history, including early childhood, primary and secondary school
-
Educational history
-
Work history
-
Symptoms of ADHD in adults
-
Psychological and mental health history
-
Impact on all of the areas of your life
Step 3: Post-Assessment Support
We write a comprehensive report(within 4 weeks), and book a follow up appointment, where we discuss the outcome of the assessment. During this appointment, we will talk to you about whether you meet the diagnostic criteria for ADHD or not.
We will also discuss any other potential diagnoses that emerged from the assessment, such as depression, anxiety, OCD, or other disorders.
We will talk to you about any recommendations we have, based on the outcome of the assessment, and will signpost you to getting help from the appropriate providers.
If You Are Diagnosed with ADHD
Following a diagnosis, we include a one-hour feedback session to discuss findings, provide recommendations, and explore options for managing ADHD.
For those seeking medication, we can connect you with an ADHD Specialist Prescribing Team, who all work remotely and can initiate, review and manage dose titration, for clients where medication is deemed suitable.
Our Psychologists can talk to you more about the different options for the prescribing teams and fees associated with them.
Once you are stable on medication, the prescriber can write to your GP to request a shared care arrangement.
Alongside medication, ADHD Coaching can be offered. Medication for ADHD is known to be most effective when combined with targeted psychological treatments. Our psychologists can offer sessions that can target:
-
Education around ADHD and understanding role of executive functioning in everyday life
-
Handouts to share with family/ improve relationship understanding
-
Coping strategies/ goal setting/ problem solving/ accountability
-
Improving sleep/ lifestyle changes
-
Improving self esteem
-
Activities to enhance functioning
Fees for this can be discussed with the Clinical Psychologist following assessment.
If You Are Not Diagnosed with ADHD
-
We will give you a clear reason why you do not meet the diagnostic criteria
-
We will discuss any other possible diagnoses that may be relevant to you
-
If you are showing symptoms of ASD, or another specific learning difficulty, we will not give you a formal diagnosis of this as this is a separate and rigorous assessment process, but we will flag any symptoms that are relevant, and suggest what to do going forward
