Frequently asked questions
What are implants?
Implants are where your dentist fixes a titanium screw into the jawbone itself to secure bridges or build replacement teeth. Implants are like an artificial tooth root, and there are two types: one we call endosteal (in the bone) and then subperiosteal (on the bone). Endosteal implants are the most commonly used.
Do implants hurt?
This procedure is done under local anaesthetic. You may feel some soreness after the surgery for a few days, but no pain is felt during the procedure.
How do I clean them?
You should clean your implants the same way you would clean your natural teeth. The dentist will show you how to clean around the implant thoroughly and you may need to see your hygienist regularly to maintain the implants.
Are they removable?
Implants can only be removed by the dentist, but if you have dentures, they may be removed for cleaning.
How much do implants cost?
Our prices are unbeatable for a comparable implant and expertise of our surgeons. We offer three types of implants starting from £14.95 per month or £940 for a complete single implant (9.9% APR over 60 months with a 25% deposit). Our initial implant consultation is free (with a refundable £25 booking fee) there is no obligation to continue your treatment with us.
What’s included in the price?
Our implant price is for a complete implant system.
- That’s the implant, abutment and crown.
- We only use leading implant components to make sure that your implant can withstand a lifetime of use.
- You may require or want additional treatments, which will be discussed with you at the initial consultation stage.
- These treatments do have additional fees, however the cost can be substantially reduced or spread out by subscribing to our membership and payment plans.
Do you offer interest-free monthly payment plans?
We are happy to offer our patients a one year payment plan at 0% APR. And for longer payment options, we can offer patients 7.9% APR over 36 months and 9.9% APR over 60 months monthly payment terms.
Why do we need to replace missing teeth?
Some people choose to replace missing teeth for cosmetic reasons, others because it makes it easier to eat and drink, or even speak more clearly. The number one reason is that they look and feel like natural teeth.
Are implants dangerous to health?
No. You look after implants the same way as you do natural teeth, and this means regular brushing, flossing and routine visits to your dentist and hygienists to get your teeth checked. Taking care of all your teeth minimises the risk of plaque build up and infection.
Can anyone have Implants?
Being able to have implants is primarily reliant on the condition of the bone in your jaw. It needs to be strong – and you need to have enough of it – so it can take the titanium screw. Part of your implant consultation may include a CT scan which will check the bone density around your jaw.
What are the known complications?
Like any surgery, there are some health risks to consider. Please remember these problems are rare, they are usually minor and easily treated. We use 3D Implant planning for improved placement and certainty of results, but potential complications are infection (at the implant site), injury or damage to surrounding teeth, nerve damage and sinus problems.
How long does the procedure take?
Your implantologist will be able to give you a timetable for your treatment. Because your bone has to fuse to the new implant before a bridge or new tooth can be placed on it, you will have a temporary tooth, bridge or denture fitted as part of the procedure. Our implants are guaranteed from 10 years to a lifetime, depending on which implant type you choose.
What should I expect during surgery?
You will be under a local anaesthetic for your procedure and will not feel any pain or discomfort during the procedure itself. We also offer sedation if you would prefer to be almost asleep whilst your implant is fitted.
